Customers are naturally lazy: they will always take the easy route by relying on details from memory rather than bothering to look something up. Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs)


Q1. Who is likely to benefit most from having a memorable number?

Of course taxi firms benefit hugely, but so can any business that wants more trade via word of mouth referreals and repeat, impulse, or emergency calls from customers who might be in a hurry. For example: Florists, Plumbers, Electricians, Mechanics, Roofers, Roadside recovery and other 'on-demand' trades. What's more, memorable numbers work wonders when existing customers want to recommend your services to others, as they will be able to instantly and effortlessly recall your number from memory.

Q2. How much does it cost to rent a number?

Numbers can be rented from as little as £25 per month, but as they become more memorable and their business value increases, the charge associated with them goes up. Very good memorable numbers like '0114 333 2233' and '0114 444 2224' can be rented for £29-£45 per month, with super memorable ones like '0114 444 2 444' or '0114 333 5000' renting for £65 or so per month. Q3. Are there any setup costs?

There is a one-time setup/activation fee of £95 per number.

Q4. Are engineer installation visits, new equipment or new lines involved?

No. Eveything is done remotely and relies on calls being forwarded to your existing mobile or landline number. No need for an engineer to visit, no new lines, and no new equipment needed.

Q5. Can calls to my memorable number be forwarded to more than one phone?

Yes. Calls to memorable numbers can be forwarded to more than one mobile and/or landline number, with phones ringing at the same time until answered, or one after the other if the first doesn't pick up within so many seconds (round-robin). This is useful on those occasions when a trader is busy on a job and calls that might otherwise be missed can be forwarded to ring on a different mobile or office/home landline number for somebody else to answer. Speak to us about how to best handle incoming calls to your memorable number depending on your specific situation.

Q6. What's the difference between forwarding calls to my home/office landline and the optional desk phone you provide?

The optional home/office phone we provide for a one-off payment of £65 is sent out by post and plugs directly in to a spare port on your home/office broadband router, ready to go. There are two main advantages to this option: i) your monthly (number) rental figure includes unlimited outbound calls to UK numbers (01,02,03, freefone 080 & standard 07) from this phone; and ii) All calls made from this phone ID as your memorable number to whoever you call. The difference here is that outbound calls made from your own mobile or home/office landline will always ID with their own number, and not your memorable number. However, calls made from one of our phones will always ID with your memorable number, so could be useful for those who want to keep their mobile number hidden (for personal/private use only), with all business calls handled via their memorable number.

Q7. Can I decide where calls to my memorable number are forwarded depending on the day and time?

Q9. Are there any other ongoing costs?

When a call is made to your memorable number we have to pay to forward that call to your designated mobile or landline number. All small business customers benefit from 1,000 minutes of free forwarded calls every quarter, included as part of the rental fee. If this limit is exceeded we charge 1.5pence per minute for every over-limit call forwarded to either a landline or mobile.

Q10. How long is the rental term?

Unless a number is bought outright to begin with, the initial rental term is 48 months, which defaults to renewable 12 month terms therafter. At the conclusion of each rental term customers may exercise the option to buy the number from us for a one-off payment of 12x the monthly rate, or continue to rent from us at the same rate as before on a year-to-year basis.

Q11. What if the number I have in mind doesn't match any of the patterns?

Where a match does not exist, you will benefit from our lowest monthly rental rate of £25 per month.

Q12. The number I want matches more than one pattern

If you find that your chosen number matches two or more differently-priced patterns, then the pattern with the highest monthly rental rate applies. For example, the number 0114 333 3000 matches both the '3xxx' and 'x000' patterns at £55 and £65 per month respectively. In this case, the monthly rental would be the higher of the two: £65.

Q13. I don't want to rent the number, I want to own it.

You may rent a number for a fixed monthly fee or buy it outright for a one-time payment of 20x the quoted monthly figure. You can then choose to host it with us for £25 per month on a 12-month rolling rental agreement, or arrange to move (port) your number for hosting with another telecoms provider. Assuming that we have a porting agreement in place with your chosen provider, the transfer process usually takes 2-3 weeks.

Q14. How/when will I be invoiced?

One time setup/activation fees are invoiced at the time of order and, along with the first quarter's advance rental bill, need to be paid before service is provisioned. Recurring rental fees are invoiced quarterly in advance, and call-forwarding fees (if any) are invoiced quarter-in-arrears. All invoices are on 30 day payment terms and customers are expected to have a direct debit in place to settle amounts 28 days or so from the invoice date.

Q15. Do you operate a referral or affiliate scheme?

We operate a generous referral scheme, where existing customers get a service credit of £50 applied to their account for each newly referred customer who takes a number from us. The credit is applied as soon as the new customer pays their first bill.

Q16. The on-line availability checker shows results for an '0330 666' number - what is this?

'03' numbers offer a simple and affordable alternative to the confusion surrounding expensive '08' numbers (beginning 0845, 0870 etc.). '03' numbers are not tied to any geographic location (like 0114 or 0161) and so give callers the impression of a company with a national presence, rather than one that operates in a particular area. '03' numbers are also part of the 'inclusive minutes' allowance offered with most-all mobile plans and so cost nothing to dial if within-limit, and cost the same to dial as geographic (01, 02) numbers should you happen to go over-limit.
